David is a high school senior techie and loves his sweet English bulldog! He loves computer programming and has excelled in school so much to the point that he will be majoring in it in college in the Fall. We photographed David’s Senior Photography Session in the studio, in his backyard and in his home. We also stopped by the Joy and Gordon Patterson Botanical Gardens on the campus Florida Institute of Technology for some quick images on their bridge. His mom bought a 16×20 canvas of David to match the wall art on their family photography wall. We love having objects and pets in the photographs that mean alot to a Senior. Summer came in to the studio for an Essentials Senior Photography Session! She loves guitar and wanted a few images to commemorate graduating from her Home School Program! Senior Photography Sessions are customizable for everyone! We help you decide the style of images you would like and Dana builds a set around those ideas! Feel Beautiful and Exist in Print. It means many things to many people. Ladies–When is the last time you had someone photograph only YOU? Can’t remember? Are you always the one behind the camera while your Life goes undocumented? Yea…me too until I had a colleague photograph me. I had my hair done, makeup done etc. and then had my photograph taken and loved it! I did it for several reasons. My boys needed a photograph of just their mom and my husband needed a photograph of just his wife. I needed a photograph of me to remind myself of what I looked like in a flattering photograph! This is one of the core reasons for the Feel Beautiful Session.
No more excuses like, “I look terrible in photos!” or “I need to wait until I lose some weight.” It’s all in the posing and and lighting ladies. Posing you is my job. No worries. Let it be known that 2020-21 will not be the year that High School Seniors just set back and gave up on having anything special happen their Senior year! Hope’s mom, Julia was determined that Hope would begin her Senior year with a very special custom photography session from Dana Niemeier Photography! Over Zoom we planned the location and even planned the outfits Hope would wear right down to the jewelry and shoes. I scheduled Hope with my Professional Hair and Makeup Stylist so that she would feel pampered and taken care of AND wouldn’t have to worry about a thing on her portrait day! Hope had chosen a beautiful coral prom gown that she was never able to wear to her Jr. Prom because the COVID-19 pandemic closed her school! I made sure she was able to have some gorgeous portraits and happy memories in that gown! It was a warm summer Florida day in a Botanical Garden and Hope looked radiant! We had so much fun and enjoyed a beautiful day in Vero Beach. I loved giving Hope a day she will always remember and beautiful portraits and wall art her family will always cherish.
CrossFit is a culture and apparently an avenue for engagement! Just watching a workout makes me sweat! Emily and Robbie met at Maverick Cross Fit in Melbourne, FL and decided that is where their engagement session should be. I was ALL on board with that! We shot on a Sunday morning and had an open gym with gorgeous light streaming in from the roll up doors. After discussing their vision for the session, we set to work with a few dress shots and then on to the athletic shots and gear CrossFit is known for– kettle bells, boxes, ropes and free weights. What do you wear for a Feel Beautiful Session? Choosing garments for a Feel Beautiful Session is easy! The focus is you, of course, but as women, once we feel like we are wearing a beautiful outfit, our entire outlook changes! I can see it when it happens! Hair is complete. Makeup is complete. Wardrobe is on and BOOM! You turn around toward my camera…I love that.
First, make sure the color complements your eyes and skin tone. Black or white if all else fails. Second, make sure that the top or the top of the dress is fairly fitted. Women with ample bosoms (as my grandmother used to say) look great in a well supported bra and a top that is fitted underneath their aforementioned bosom. Heck, anyone looks great with a good bra 😉 Third, some type of sleeve is always more flattering. However, butterfly sleeves may look great on you, but they do not photograph well! I am a fan of the 3/4 length as I get older… Forth, Foundation garments (Grandmother speak again). Those can be full length for a dress or whatever length for whatever you want to smooth out and tuck in 😉 Fifth, any top or dress with a texture can camouflage. Lace overlay is beautiful and a favorite. A monochromatic top and bottom for continuity is always flattering.

At our session consult I asked Anne what kind of photo shoot she envisioned. “I want it to be Fantastic!” OK then. Done. She chose the Model for a Day Collection and decided on a rock and roll edgy/glamour shoot with a beach add-on. Anne brought in a rack of potential outfits and jewelry options and we set to work putting together the perfect session. This girl likes sparkle!! Yay! On shoot day, it was a packed afternoon with Hair and Makeup by One Love Salon’s Will Bernstein, 3 set -ups in Studio and by the time we were to head out for the beach THE BIGGEST STORM rolled in! Welcome to Florida in the summer 🙂 We rescheduled for a few days later and had a BEAUTIFUL evening to capture some gorgeous soft portraits in and out of the water. A true Florida and Bahamas girl who loves the beach! Anastasia is leaving the sunshine state though and starts her college career at Ole Miss University in Oxford, Mississippi this fall! Well. I did THAT and then some! What an wedding photography adventure I had on the Northern Europe Extravaganza/wedding thrown in for good measure! Many Many opportunities to photograph for 12 days. My camera never left my shoulder if I wasn’t sleeping or bathing!!! Late nights, wine, champagne, cheese, bread, croissants and jam to last me at least two more weeks! I can now drive a stick shift on European highways and not even hit a Frenchman on a rocket disguised as a motorcycle! However, I didn’t escape the Utretch police. I mean really, the bus lane is so uncluttered! Why not drive there? We all had a great adventure. Ate some fantastic food. Saw some incredible countryside. Met some of the kindest people who helped us find our way in Paris! If I could give anyone advice on one thing to take with you on a trip, it would be a portable cell phone battery charger. The walking Nav app is awesome, but drains your battery very quickly. Then you can’t communicate with your friends on where to meet because you can’t find them at the designated spot…this might have happened. More than once. Cell data plan would be good as well. If you can find a Starbucks with free wifi, you can use an App called WeChat to text for free. Free WiFi is not as available as it is in the US…We are all a little addicted, people! **4 year update edit>>>Use Facebook Messenger or look into getting a Simcard for your phone when you arrive;)
That being said, thank you to the fantastic people in Utretch, Netherlands for being so welcoming. We Americans so appreciated your hospitality and fell in love with your beautiful city. I think I want a bike with a bell now 🙂
What a great session for Amber a recent graduate of Melbourne Central Catholic School in Melbourne, Fl! Amber opted for professional hair and makeup by Will Bernstein of One Love Salon and a collection of her own wardrobe and a few pieces from my Collection! I always encourage Seniors to have at least one outfit that they love but may not normally wear and it is always a big hit! Amber opted for 3 of these types of outfits and it was so fun! This is the Model for a Day session and it lasted about 6 hours from first curl set to last shutter click! We really go all out-
We started out at One Love Salon with Professional Hair and Makeup. So great. Amber wanted the works! Why have photos made looking the way you look every day? May as well rock it out! And she did! Big soft curls to begin with, to a side pony, headband, hat, side bun. She really had it all in this session. An awesome photo/video clip slideshow of the day and 25++ proofs to choose awesome portraits , make mini albums for family and wallets for announcements!
